Vancouver neighborhoods

Inside city limits, the early 1900s blocks of Hough and Shumway include detached garages off the alleys, and wartime tracts and 1950s and 1960s ranches fill the middle of town. The east side, annexed in 1997 from Cascade Park to Fisher's Landing, was mostly built out over the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

Unincorporated Clark County

From Hazel Dell and Salmon Creek along the Highway 99 corridor to the foothill crossroads of Amboy on SR 503, these communities sit outside any city. Many carry a Vancouver mailing address, but the county, not the city, handles their permits.

Clark County cities

Camas and Washougal sit at the mouth of the Gorge in the path of the east wind, Ridgefield and Battle Ground are mostly subdivisions from the last few decades, and Woodland sits on the Lewis River at the county line.

Cowlitz County

This group runs up I-5 from Kalama on the Columbia to Castle Rock, and Longview and Kelso, where the median home dates from the 1960s, have the oldest housing we serve.

Why do garage doors wear out differently from town to town?

Each place mixes the same few causes in its own way: moisture, the age of the door and exposure to wind. Freezing rain and ice storms can reach any town on the list, but the rest changes as you move across the two counties.

Heavy tree cover keeps doors damp and mossy, and older wood doors rot where the shade never dries them out. Gravel driveways on rural lots in the north county leave grit where the bottom seal meets the floor, and the weather stations to the north and east log more freezing nights than the river towns.

Builder-grade doors and openers came with the tracts built from about 1995 to 2025, so their original springs and openers are the parts to watch. Where an HOA governs the street, its rules also set the style and color of a replacement section. Each area page lists the wear that shows up there.

Questions about the service area

How do you fit a garage door call into the day across Clark and Cowlitz counties?

Calls are grouped by the road that reaches them, so each day follows a few runs instead of crossing the county back and forth. One run heads up SR 503 through the north county, another goes out SR 14 toward Camas and Washougal, and the Cowlitz run follows I-5 past Woodland. A morning call has the most room to join a run that day, which is how same day happens in most cases.

Do the rural roads and new subdivisions between these towns get garage door service too?

Yes, the roads between the listed places are served on the same runs as the towns on either side. That takes in acreage off the county roads, the newer subdivisions growing around Ridgefield and Battle Ground, and the small crossroads communities in the foothills. When you text, add your cross streets and the closest listed place, and the reply says which run your address joins.

Where does the Cowlitz County end of your garage door route stop?

At Castle Rock, the northern end of the I-5 corridor in our service area, past Woodland, Kalama, Kelso and Longview. The Cowlitz run picks up where the Clark County calls leave off at Woodland and follows the freeway north from there. For a home beyond Castle Rock or far from I-5, send the address first, and the reply tells you whether the trip fits a day on that run.

Does the posted garage door repair price change from one town to the next?

The posted prices stay the same in every place on this page; only the sales tax line moves with the job address. Washington adds sales tax to parts and labor based on where the job sits, so the same spring job in two towns can show different tax. Our sales tax guide explains how to look up the rate for your own address.

Is your town not on the list?

The pages above cover the places we are asked about most, and the routes run past them. If your address sits anywhere in Vancouver, all of Clark County and the I-5 corridor north through Longview to Castle Rock, Washington, send your cross streets by text or phone and we will say whether the trip works.

The same posted prices apply everywhere on this page.

Want a price before anyone drives over?

Call and describe what the door is doing, or text a photo of the door and the spring above it. You hear the likely repair and where its price starts, then decide.
